The Green-cheeked Parakeet (Pyrrhura molinae), commonly called the Green-cheeked Conure in aviculture, is a small parrot belonging to the subfamily Arinae within the family Psittacidae—a group that includes both African and New World parrots. This lively species is native to South America, with populations found across Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay.
Typically measuring 25–26 cm (9.8–10 in) in length and weighing 62–82 g (2.2–2.9 oz), males and females are similar in size and appearance. Adults of the nominate subspecies (P. m. molinae) are characterized by their dull brown forehead and nape, contrasted with their distinctive green cheeks, which give the bird its name.
