About Green-Cheeked Conures
Green-Cheeked Conures are among the most popular companion parrots due to their playful nature, intelligence, and affectionate personalities, truly “big personalities in a small body.” These birds enjoy interaction and can learn to mimic a few words, perform tricks like lying on their backs, giving kisses, shaking, hanging upside down, minor tool use, and even potty training. While some enjoy being held more than others, all benefit from early socialization and attention.
Vocalization and Training
These conures are relatively quiet compared to other parrots, making them ideal for apartment living. With patience and consistent training, they can learn tricks and develop a limited vocabulary. Young birds may occasionally bite, which is normal, but this behavior typically fades within the first few months with proper care and socialization.
Lifespan & Diet
With proper care, Green-Cheeked Conures can live 25–30 years in captivity. Unfortunately, due to neglect or poor diet, many live only 10–15 years.
